Avansis Investment Process
Our investment process begins with your idea…then we thoroughly evaluate your vision, technologies, markets, and team members. We work with you to validate your business plan, often involving industry experts, potential customers, other firms, and, if needed, potential key management hires.
The process begins with a business plan. A good business plan is more than a money-raising tool. It is also a working document that captures the essence of your company and accurately models the requirements for executing your strategy over time. When building the plan, it is crucial that you talk to your customers and competitors and do your homework.
Your Business Plan should describe:
1) Vision – the problem being addressed and your solution.
2) Team – your prior experience and capabilities
3) Market – need, size, and growth rate
4) Technology Edge
Plan Review
We will ask you to bring key employees so that they can answer direct questions about their specific areas. We may ask someone from our network of experts to talk or meet with you at another time. These meetings are a very important part of the evaluation process. Your team’s ability to clearly articulate and summarize the important issues in your plan reflect their true understanding of the business, and how well they will be able to sell your ideas to future employees and investors.
In-depth Due Diligence and Review
Prior to making final investment approval, we will do extensive due diligence. This typically includes a comprehensive technical review, discussions with your potential customers, other expert market or technical evaluation as well as reference checks of the key management team. We will also speak with others who are assisting you.
Syndication
Typically, Avansis Ventures will invest with other individuals or investment funds.
Term Sheet Presentation
After Avansis Ventures has approved an investment, a term sheet is prepared that outlines proposed investment terms including valuation, rights of the preferred shareholders, and board composition.
Closing
Avansis Ventures’ attorneys and your counsel produce the closing documents that finalize the transaction and the milestone requirements that enable funds to be transferred into your company.
